While I love to brew, I also like to eat. That means that food that involves beer is always a winner in my book. Last week my wife made up this beefy treat for us. Its called a beef and beer carbonnade. For the brew portion of it, we had a tripel that I brewed almost a year ago as the beer in the recipe.

Without reposting all the fun information from the website, here is the link to check out the details yourself:

http://www.elise.com/recipes/archives/000865carbonnade_beef_and_beer_stew.php

It was really good, though I am not sure how much flavor the beer really contributed to the overall profile. I still enjoyed it very much. The recipe called for a “Belgian” beer, which left me asking “could you be more specific?” I had a wit that we could have used, we decided on the Tripel. It sounds like the primary choice was supposed to be a Belgian Dubbel or a Strong ale.

Either way, it was great. Give it a try.

Cheers.
