Super Bowl Commercials

February 2nd, 2009 travis No comments

Best commercial of last night’s Super Bowl IMO
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--eje2zxFS8]
You’ve got to love solid use of a skins game.  In other news, Macro brewer’s really pissed away their money on the commercials this year.  They all sucked.  What was the deal with the Bud Light Lime one?  Can’t they come up with anything better than that?  I [...]

Happy New Year – Video of bottle cutting

January 1st, 2009 travis No comments

Happy New Year brewers.  Nick pulled off this feat last night with at least 8 of our 12 beers tasted already.  He managed to not only avoid dismemberment, but also open a champagne bottle is a very cool way.

Enjoy football today.  Cheers.

Tech Fix – I am still here

December 22nd, 2008 travis No comments

In the process of moving over to Word Press, I seem to have lost my RSS feed using Feed Burner.  I’ve since updated it and for some of the people who subscribe to my blog via feed burner, you might be seeing this post as one of my first in a while.
Sorry about the mixup, [...]

The move to Wordpress is complete!

December 5th, 2008 travis 3 comments

For the first three years of CNYBrew.com, I have been using Blogger as the engine that drives this site. A few weeks ago I revisited Wordpress and was really impressed with the changes that were made.
Initially I did not want to use Wordpress because custom domains were $10/yr and I was someone that wanted it [...]

Brew Calendar – What's on deck

December 4th, 2008 travis No comments

*I reserve the right to gank images and use them in my blog because I don’t make any money off this.
Well we are into December and the days left to get some brew on are limited so I have dedicated myself to a schedule. Nick is limited in time and Bryan has been busy keeping [...]

Little bottling, little drinking

November 30th, 2008 travis No comments

Tonight I racked over my still unnamed IPA and added the Willamette dry hops to both carboys. I had a taste and was really pleased with the flavor. This is going to be a great IPA. There were a few things about the brew day that I forgot to outline:
Step mashed – I used a [...]

Ted's Mint Stout Tasting

November 26th, 2008 travis 3 comments

On his way through this summer, Ted and I exchanged a few brews. I have been through a few of them (and really liked all so far!), but was saving the Mint Stout for a rainy day. Well in CNY, rainy days quickly turn into snowy days, so Nick and I tasted the mint stout [...]

DARE…To stand up and say something!

November 12th, 2008 travis 2 comments

I sat on this for a few months now, but I have to say something. The recent scuttlebutt about lowing the drinking age has opened the door to an important conversation about alcohol and the youth. As a homebrewer and as a relatively recent graduate of college, I have a unique perspective on this issue. [...]

A quick note on football

November 11th, 2008 travis No comments

First off, sorry I have been lagging on my brewing. It’s been a slow going since the fourth, but things will get better. I am getting ready to bottle my Christmas Ale and I may have found a great name for the brew. More to come on that…
But first a quick thought [...]
